“Uncorrected vision can create a number of other problems for children, academically and socially. As children develop, they learn to see. While eye and vision problems in infants are rare, they occasionally happen. Dr. Faruk Orge, Chief of Pediatric Ophthalmology at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital said it is important that early detection starts with the pediatrician. “We recommend that every pediatrician exam the babies as soon as they are born, then a follow up examination by the pediatrician between six and 12-months of age,” he said.”(more)
