“Studies around the world are discovering that children are consuming too much salt in their lunches as well as from restaurant meals, causing them to become in danger of becoming “salt addicts”…Too much salt can result in health problems including high blood pressure, heart and kidney disease, or cancer…In order to reduce the level of salt found within food offerings, the Heart Foundation suggests choosing low sodium food items, including breads and cereals that have a sodium level of less than 400mg/100g. Also, they suggest using herbs and spices in place of salt for added flavor and eating more fruits and vegetables rather than pre-packaged foods.”(more)
