” Parents should send their kids to schools to study alongside Chinese and other immigrants to get them excited about learning, David Blunkett, the former education secretary has said. Mr. Blunkett, who has recently been appointed chair of the David Ross Education Trust, also said most migrant families recognise the value of education as “the lifeline to liberation of talent”. Asked about how to tackle the growing number of immigrants in British classrooms, Mr Blunkett said British parents should send their children where immigrant families send theirs. Speaking to the Sunday Telegraph, he said: “Not all but most immigrant families understand that education is the lifeline to liberation of talent and to overcoming inequality and to personal fulfillment and success.”(more)
