“Oregon teachers this year will adjust to a new facet of the state’s fledgling evaluation system: How much did their students’ scores on rigorous Smarter Balanced exams improve? Oregon districts have started to use the state’s new evaluation system designed to comprehensively look at teachers’ skills. About 80 percent of a teacher’s evaluation will cover professional duties, growth and goals, which can include instruction, lesson plans, data keeping and more, but now 20 percent will incorporate student growth on test scores.”(more)
