“May is Children’s Mental Health Awareness Month. Adults are often more focused on the physical and social development of children, ensuring that they are being given good nutrition, a healthy environment and access to social interaction with other children. These are all important elements of raising healthy children, but it is important that parents, teachers and caregivers also be aware that children can begin to demonstrate mental health problems at a very early age, and that it is important to address those problems. A child needs to have good mental health status in order to have good self-esteem, perform well in school, develop good relationships and make healthy lifestyle decisions as they grow older.”(more)
