“A group of Girl Scouts huddle around an Ultimaker 3D printer amazed at how it layers melted plastic together to print tiny objects that they had created and designed using CAD software. On Thursday, non-profit MakerGirl pitstopped at the Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska Camp Catron & Retreat Center in Nebraska City to show 68 Girl Scouts across Nebraska how the 3D printers work and allowed them to get a hands-on experience in the world of 3D printing. MakerGirl was created in October 2014 in a social entrepreneurship class at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and is an organization that is dedicated to inspiring young girls to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.”(more)
