“At the start of the school year, the fourth-grade teachers at Millennia Elementary School mostly banished multiple-choice questions from their math and reading tests. Instead, they asked students to solve math problems, showing their work. And they made them write out their answers to reading questions in full sentences. “The first reading and the first math test, they bombed,” said veteran teacher Rob Paschall. But months into the school year, the hallway outside the fourth-grade classrooms is decorated with similar tests students have aced.”(more)
