“After failing to act in 2015, Senate Agriculture Committee leaders promised to advance legislation in January that will reauthorize child nutrition programs. Reauthorization of child nutrition programs — including school meals and the Women Infants and Children program — was not addressed in the omnibus spending bill that won approval from Congressional leaders in mid-December. However, Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee, and Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., ranking member of the committee, said the legislation will be the first priority for the new year.”(more)
