“In 2010, Leeds, the 3rd largest city in England, filched Nigel Richardson from his post as Director of Children’s Services in nearby Hull. He’d led the charge to make Hull the world’s first “Restorative City.” Using restorative practices across Hull’s agencies, both public and private, yielded stunning results after only 5 years. For example, costs for the youth justice system came down by 3.5 million pounds (roughly $5.8 million) and school exclusions by 80 percent.” (more)
