“While daily vigorous activity is a known health benefit, exercise scientists are now turning their focus to the flip side — the health risks of too much time sitting still. . . . Canadian adults on average spend 9.5 hours a day (69 per cent of their waking hours) sitting still, according to Statistics Canada figures released last month after using accelerometers to track activity levels.
