Technological advances have radically reduced the number of jobs and increased the skills required for those jobs. Just encouraging American youth to attend college will do little to improve their chances for quality employment. To succeed, our children must have a better, broader education than people educated elsewhere. Not only are strong math and science skills critical, but our children also need a strong understanding of history, the ability to write well and speak eloquently, the flexibility to think creatively and solve challenging problems, the confidence to lead and the ability to fluently speak foreign languages and understand foreign cultures.
